Spoke with Redskins LT Chris Samuels a few moments ago and he hopes to have surgery on his torn triceps muscle by the end of the week.

Samuels was injured early in the fourth quarter Sunday night in Baltimore when pass protecting against Terrell Suggs.

“It surprised me,” Samuels said. “I just set out on the guy and extended my arms to punch him and I felt a burning sensation and pain. I knew something was wrong.”

This is the first time Samuels will be unable to finish a season. His only other extended injury time was a three-game absence in 2003 but he finished the year.

Samuels will be put on injured reserve later today. The Redskins will be making a few roster moves to the 53-man and the practice squad.
