The Washington Times - April 9, 2009, 02:47PM

The trend started 39 years ago by “Monday Night Football” took another silly step today with th announcement by the NFL Network that it will announce all 32 teams’ schedules for 2009 during a 7PM broadcast on Tuesday.

More and more games, especially playoff contests, are being played in primetime (as in more eyeballs and more ad dollars). The draft is now an evening event as is the announcement of the Pro Bowl rosters.

But the release of the schedule in which all opponents are known and only the sequence of games is to be learned?

By the way, my educated guess is that the Redskins kick off at home (as they have in all but two years, 2001 and 2008, during Dan Snyder’s decade of ownership) on Sunday Sept. 13 and then open the Cowboys’ new palace the following Sunday night or Monday night.
