Offensive line coach Joe Bugel held court with reporters for the first time this camp following today’s first practice. Here are some leftovers that didn’t make my story on the offensive line.

*On the injuries: “We had five guys out so that left us with nine true warriors out there. It gave me the opportunity to really get the young kids in there against really good football players. Today was a great evaluation day.”

*On the right tackle spot: “I don’t know why everyone is really concerned about right tackle — that aggravates me. We got great candidates there. Heyer has played there and started there. Bridges has started there in the league. We are not destitude at that position. … We’ve got plenty of beef, we just have to coach them hard. As long as the guy is tough, I’ll coach him.”

*On LT Chris Samuels: “He’s had a great camp. He went to Phoenix at about 330 pounds and he’s about 309 or 305. He’s moving like a cat. He really has a set pattern and every day he gets better and better. My biggest concern is just not wearing him out, not overdoing it.”

*On reserve RG Chad Rinehart: “Night and day. Last year he was just a young rookie [who was] star struck. Now he went back home and got on the weights and he gained some real solid weight. He’s becoming a pretty good hitter in there. I was totally surprised how he came back and how he’s competed out there.”
