Greetings from Indianapolis, where the windchill has to be in single digits after snow fell and the wind blew last night and this morning.

I’ll be reporting from the NFL scouting combine for the next four days. The proceedings have moved from the Convention Center/RCA Dome to the new Lucas Oil Stadium, a gigantic structure that dwarfs the downtown area. In a change from my last four combines, I’m staying near the airport and that’s a good thing — the walk from the downtown hotels to the stadium would have long and bone-chilling this morning.

Redskins coach Jim Zorn is expected to be at the podium today at 1:15. I’ll of course put some quotes up right away. Also speaking today are the coaches from Buffalo, Detroit,  Indianapolis, Atlanta, New Orleans, Miami and Oakland plus Pittsburgh personnel chief Kevin Colbert.

The big position group available today are the offensive linemen, kickers, punters and special teams player. The big four left tackles are Andre Smith, Jason Smith, Eugene Monroe and Michael Oher.

The latest mock draft by has the Redskins taking Mississippi DT Peria Jerry with the 13th pick. That would an absolute run on defensive tackles early. Suffice to say, the first dozen picks will include plenty of linemen.
