Rough day for former Redskins by the shores of Lake Erie. First, guard Derrick Dockery, whom Buffalo foolishly gave a seven-year, $49 million contract in 2007 was cut. Now comes words that tight end Robert Royal, who signed a five-year, $10 million deals with the Bills in 2006, is also being jettisoned.

Dockery could well be headed back to Washington to rejoin close pal Chris Samuels on the left side of Joe Bugel’s line where Pete Kendall’s about to become a free agent. However, the Redskins are set at tight end with Chris Cooley, Todd Yoder and Fred Davis so Royal won’t be back in burgundy and gold.
