After sharing a plane ride with dueling Steelers and Ravens fans from BWI to Pittsburgh today, I headed towards ground transportation only to be welcomed by two statues of local legends.

To the right, General George Washington, the hero of Fort Duquesne. To the left, Franco Harris, the hero of “The Immaculate Reception.”

Franco and The Father of Our Country, equivalent. Only in the ‘Burgh. …

Randle El back in the ‘Burgh

Redskins receiver Antwaan Randle El played his first four season for the Steelers. He returned to Heinz Field today for the first time since he left.

But Randle El, of course, isn’t playing. He’s working for the NFL Network, as teammate Clinton Portis did during the playoffs a couple of seasons back.

“I’m enjoying it,” said Randle El, whose glib manner and deep voice bodes well for a post-playing days broadcasting career.
