Safety Reed Doughty, who missed most of the season with a back injury that required surgery, was named the Redskins’ winner of the Ed Block Courage Award.

The Ed Block Courage Award is named for Ed Block, the longtime trainer of the Baltimore Colts.

Doughty, who lost his starting job to rookie Chris Horton even before he was injured, is a restricted free agent. Doughty hopes to re-sign with the Redskins.

Although the Redskins also drafted safety Kareem Moore in 2008, they’ll likely welcome Doughty back to a 1-year deal.
