The Redskins are back from a five-day break and have added fullback Eddie Williams from the practice squad to take the roster spot vacated by LT Chris Samuels going on injured reserve.

Practice is at 1 p.m. but players have been at Redskin Park for a few hours already today.

Williams’ addition is to help on special teams. Linebacker H.B. Blades and cornerback Byron Westbrook (knee injuries) aren’t expected to play Sunday at Atlanta.

Williams might also be an option as a second or third tight end in blocking situations.

A couple of story lines to watch this week:

* DeAngelo Hall faces his former team. Hall still lives in the Atlanta area and is a former first-round pick of the Falcons. He was there for the highs (making the NFC title game as a rookie in 2004) and the lows (the end of the Jim Mora Era and the entire Bobby Petrino Error).

* Injuries. Chris Cooley is out for at least a month and the special teams have been depleted. Fred Davis supposedly spent the off week working out at Redskin Park on routes and whatnot so this is his first huge opportunity to be a part of the passing game.

* Pass protection. It was a mess against Philadelphia and the coaches have had a week to re-assess which direction to go in. Jim Zorn ruled out Levi Jones taking over at LT for Stephon Heyer but it should be considered.

* The vibe. The Redskins are 2-5 — 2 1/2 games out of THIRD place in the NFC East. Philadelphia (5-2), Dallas (5-2) and the Giants (5-3) are pulling away. Will players still have the want-to even though eight games remain?
