“Vinny’s guy” is back.
The Washington Redskins placed right guard Randy Thomas on the season-ending injured reserve list Tuesday and his roster spot was filled by running back Anthony Alridge.

Evidently it takes five tailbacks and a fullback to change a light bulb at Redskin Park.
Alridge, who spent the last two weeks on the Houston Texans’ practice squad, was in camp with the Redskins but a toe injury and fumbling issues contributed to his release in the final roster cutdown.
The Redskins now have five running backs and one fullback on the 53-man roster. The team activated five backs last week against St. Louis.
Alridge spent last year on Denver’s injured reserve and was claimed by the Redskins during Last February with the hope he could return kicks and punts and serve as a change-of-pace back. In two preseason games he carried 10 times for 46 yards but was remembered most for his fumbled kickoff return that was returned by Jacksonville for a touchdown.
Thomas tore his right triceps in the Rams win and is slated for surgery this week. The Redskins have nine offensive linemen on the roster.
