Kevin Broadus has returned to Georgetown as a special assistant to John Thompson III, the school announced Wednesday afternoon.
Broadus, 47, will not be one of Georgetown’s three assistant coaches and isn’t able to recruit.

The Silver Spring native was an assistant at Georgetown for three years until Binghampton University hired him as head coach in 2007. That ended badly, at least off the court, as Broadus was reassigned in the midst of an NCAA investigation. Broadus later reached a settlement with Binghampton where he resigned in exchange for a $1.2 million buyout.
Broadus went 37-24 at Binghampton. He also had stints as an assistant coach at George Washington, American, District of Columbia and Bowie State.
Still unclear is how Othellea Harrington, hired May 17, fits into Georgetown’s rebuilt staff. However, Scott Greenman replaced Daryl Prue as the director of basketball operations. Greenman was the assistant director last season.
