The Competitive Enterprise Institute held it’s annual gala in Washington D.C. at the Hyatt Regency on Wednesday with it’s featured speaker Daniel Hannan, a member of the European Parliament for Southeast England. Mr. Hannan not only addressed issues pertaining to Jeffersonian philosophy but also the bailouts, a term that Mr. Hannan challenged as inappropriate, for Greece.
Robert J. Smith, a distinguished fellow in environmental policy at CEI and a long time libertarian political activist, received the annual Julian L. Simon Memorial Award. Mr. Smith also serves as director of the Center for Private Conservation (CPC), a former CEI project.

Founder and President of CEI Fred Smith moved the evening along and entertained other noted guests like Republican presidential candidate and former New Mexico governor Gary Johnson and Senator James Inhofe, Oklahoma Republican.
The evening went off without a hitch except for one thing. Technical difficulties kept CEI’s annual video from playing. Here is the video everyone was supposed to see last night. Enjoy it for the first time like all of us will who attended the fun filled dinner last night.
