Shane van Gisbergen Defends His Watkins Glen Crown in Cup Series Runaway

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Shane van Gisbergen charged from nearly 30 seconds behind with 25 laps to go and defended his 2025 title with a commanding win in the NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at The Glen on Sunday at Watkins Glen International. The New Zealander started from the pole in the No. 97 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet, led a race-high 74 of the 100 laps, passed Ty Gibbs on Lap 93 and drove away to a 7.288-second victory over Michael McDowell. It marked van Gisbergen’s seventh career Cup Series win, all on road or street courses and his first of the 2026 season, giving Trackhouse Racing a big boost.
