In this Nov. 20, 2017 photo, Paula Owen punches down bread, in her Steeleville, Ill., home. She had mixed the dough the night before using wild yeast that her family has kept alive for more than 100 years. This is the same bread recipe that Owen's mother used, and her mother before her. Owen said her mother would rub the tops of her loaves with bacon grease before they went into the oven, however she said she doesn't cook bacon enough to do that, which is why she uses margarine or butter.
