The Michigan man who authorities say fatally stabbed a friend more than 50 times and cut off his fingers before dumping his body in a field has been convicted of second-degree murder. The Saginaw News reports a jury returned the verdict Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in the case against 51-year-old Butler. He faces the possibility of life in prison when sentenced. A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
