Tony Parker is averaging a career-high 21.8 points. He is shooting a career-best 57 percent.

And there is but one explanation: Eva Jacqueline Longoria.

Parker isn’t having a career year because he’s in his fifth NBA season or because he’s 23 years old, though that’s when players often mature.

Study after study show that players become players when they date Eva Longoria, which is exactly what the San Antonio Spurs point guard has been doing for the past year.

They seem to be a perfect match. Parker is French, and Longoria is a beautiful woman.

Compare the 30-year-old Longoria to some noted former and current NBA significant others.

Madonna. Brandy. Vanessa Williams.

Musicians! You really want to deal with a one-name pretentious singer?

Jackie Christie. Vanessa Bryant. Joumana Kidd.

Three words: Too. Much. Drama.

The only drama Longoria deals in is with that scene-stealing Teri Hatcher on the set of “Desperate Housewives.” Darn you, Teri Hatcher!

The latest rumors say Longoria is wearing a four-carat diamond — the kind that screams engagement, not the eight-karat variety that “means never having to say you’re sorry.” (See Kobe Bryant, 2003.)

Yes, Longoria is hot. “Desperate Housewives” is hot. And that’s just good mojo for Parker.

Now if only Marcia Cross would return Chris Kaman’s calls.
