PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A 32-year-old Oregon man has been sentenced to 22 1/2 years in federal prison for two Portland-area armed bank robberies in late 2012.

Federal prosecutors say Daniel Arthur Carter admitted he robbed a Chase Bank branch in Tigard on Oct. 22, 2012, stole a car from a customer and got away with more than $17,000. On Nov. 21, 2012, he robbed a U.S. Bank branch in southwest Portland, failed to steal a car and was running away with nearly $12,000 when police arrested him.

He was sentenced Monday in federal court in Portland.

Carter also agreed to plead guilty in Multnomah County Circuit Court to armed robberies during 2012 at four southwest Portland businesses.
