WESTWOOD, N.J. (AP) - A northern New Jersey police officer and a woman escaped serious injury when their vehicles collided.

Westwood police tell The Record (https://bit.ly/1mKKNRz) that officer Michael Fortunat was trying to catch up to another motorist early Saturday when the woman made a left turn in front of his police cruiser.

Fortunat and the woman were both treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released later Saturday.

No charges have been filed so far, but authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
