ANALYSIS/OPINION:
President Obama just doesn’t seem to understand the urgency in helping veterans, many of whom are experiencing long wait times to see doctors (“Obama, the unaccountable president,” Web, May 21). He seems more concerned with punishing wrongdoers who work at Veterans Affairs facilities than in helping wronged veteran patients.
If the VA is understaffed in medical personnel, Mr. Obama should temporarily contract with private medical agencies in order to lessen the heavy backlog of veterans in dire need of medical care. A VA investigation could take a long time, but helping vets receive timely medical care is something the president could do rather quickly.
