Dear Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker John Boehner,

Congratulations, the Republicans will once again control both houses of Congress.

We all know the story of the lady who asked Benjamin Franklin, after the Constitutional Convention, “What kind of government have you given us?” And Franklin’s response, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

You have a majority, if you can keep it.

The election was an overwhelming rejection of Barack Obama and the Democrats. Since the Republicans mostly ran content-free campaigns, it is impossible to say the GOP won.

Now that the Republicans are in control of the Senate, they have to do something that flies in the face of the Karl Rove “let’s lose” playbook.

You are going to have to lead.

Make no mistake about this. The nation has not suddenly fallen in love with Republicans. America wants freedom and liberty. America does not want Mr.  Obama.

The exit polls were pretty definitive yesterday. Americans are worried about the economy, national security and health care.

Beginning with the lame duck session of Congress, you are going to have to put forward an agenda that resonates with real Americans.

Speaker Boehner, you have released a plan that leads with tax reform and includes tort reform. In real America, these are what we call MEGO issues. MEGO stands for “My eyes glaze over.”

There are issues Americans are concerned with, starting with amnesty.

In the lame duck session, you must defund any attempt by Mr. Obama to impose an executive amnesty. Contrary to what Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney say, Americans do not want amnesty. Amnesty will destroy the middle class and cost Americans jobs.

Americans are terrified of Ebola and the Enterovirus. Mr. Obama is doing everything in his power to bring Ebola to America and data show illegal aliens are bringing the Enterovirus to this nation.

Stop Mr. Obama.

Defund the ability he has to bring non-American Ebola patients to America for medical treatment.

Speaking of illegal aliens, if you want to destroy a Republican majority, you can do it with one simple word.

Amnesty.

Illegal immigration is costing millions of Americans jobs. Americans do not want Mr. Obama to impose amnesty by executive order and Americans don’t want Congress to do it either. What Americans do want is to have the border fixed. Sooner or later, terrorists are going to slip over our border and do something to harm America.

Americans said they wanted the size of government slashed.

If the Republican Party comes in and simply changes who the beneficiaries of government cronyism are, the GOP will be out the door in two years. The GOP can and should make war on cronyism. This is a message that will resonate with voters.

One of the issues that will be considered in the lame duck session of Congress is the reauthorization of the Wind Power Production Tax Credit. This is a subsidy that gives millions of dollars to billionaires like Warren Buffett. Americans who are struggling to find jobs and pay for their health insurance are justifiably asking why they are sending their tax dollars to subsidize the second richest man in America?

Contrary to the myth pushed by the left, Obamacare is still a major issue for real Americans. Millions of Americans have lost their health insurance and millions more are now paying hundreds of dollars more a month and facing deductibles of $10,000 or more.

We understand that as long as Mr. Obama sits in the White House, Obamacare will never be repealed. But you can start by chipping away at the most onerous components of Obamacare. Repeal the 30-hour rule in Obamacare that declares anyone who works more than 30 hours a week must be provided with Obamacare-compliant insurance. That alone will put millions of Americans back to work fulltime.

Finally, even before you take over the Senate, there will be a lame duck session. The American people have spoken loudly. Do not surrender in the lame duck session. There are some things that need to be done. A continuing resolution must be passed to keep the government running. But when you have just received a huge mandate, don’t surrender to the Democrats. Tell the Democrats the people have spoken.

America has entrusted the GOP with a majority because America is tired of the Democrats. The Republican Party can either lead with bold ideas or in two years you can shake your heads and wonder why you lost 2016.

The choice is yours.

It is your majority, if you can keep it.
