Louisville’s Courier-Journal published an evaluation of Kentucky’s Republican Governor Matt Bevin. How has he led in the first year of his administration?

Although the piece, “The Conservative warrior: Gov. Bevin’s first year,” by Tom Loftus is mostly critical of the approach Bevin has taken, I took joy in reading the following:

…“He’s the governor I’ve been waiting for my whole life,” and Senate Republican Leader Damon Thayer, of Georgetown. “I think most people find his style refreshing. … People are going to have to get accustomed to it. I don’t see him changing.”

All sides agree Bevin has been different.

He’s a governor who invokes “the Judeo-Christian principles this nation was built on” to any crowd. He grows ever more zealous before evangelical audiences, such as in September when he urged ministers gathered at the Governor’s Mansion to be bold and not fear federal retaliation for preaching about politics.
