Police: No threat found after schools evacuated, searched

WAREHAM, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts State Police say a search of schools in a town has concluded and no threats were located after an administrator received a threatening email.

Wareham Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Shaver-Hood said Monday on the school’s website that buildings were placed on lockdown. Police later said that Wareham High School, Wareham Middle School and Minot Forest Elementary School were evacuated and being searched by police.

All three schools had summer school and other educational activities occurring Monday.

Police say the email was sent anonymously from someone claiming to be inside a school with a gun.

Students and school officials were taken to a nearby YMCA, where students were released to their parents.

Police say there’s no reason to believe there’s a danger to the community.
