SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah ski resorts are reporting their second consecutive year of record visitation.

Ski Utah said Wednesday in a news release that the state recorded nearly 4.6 million skier days this past winter. That surpasses last year’s record of nearly 4.5 million.

The previous high was 4.2 million in 2007-08.

An above average year for snowfall helped fuel the banner season at Utah’s 14 resorts that stayed busy most the winter with skiers and snowboarders. Brighton Resort notched 632 inches of snowfall this year, including 200 inches just in January.

Utah’s figures mirrored strong numbers for ski resorts around the country. Ski Utah says the nearly 55 million skier days nationally marked about a 4 percent increase from the previous winter.
