This country is in pain right now. It appears inevitable that Obamacare will be totally overhauled. It has become obvious that the major sticking point is coverage for preexisting conditions, particularly for the poor.
While such a concept sounds nice, fuzzy and all-caring on the surface, is it really? Such coverage would make medical care for preexisting illness an entitlement. That is to say, if you are in America, whether you are a citizen or an illegal alien, the Constitution guarantees that taxpayers will pay for your health care. We have entitlements that are justified, such as due process. But such a policy for health coverage puts us squarely in the whelm of socialism. Can this nation afford this? If you are being totally honest with yourself surely you would agree the answer is no.
I watched with much interest this week as Congress conducted hearings on revamping Obamacare. As I expected, I saw a parade of Democrats having fits and saying that Americans with preexisting conditions have “a right” to paid health care. President Trump and other Republicans have also joined in the idea.
At the risk of sounding archaic, I must remind readers of the old adage “There are no free rides.” Someone will have to pay the bill. Remember, what these pseudo-socialists are saying is that you and I will pay the cost of everyone with existing illness.
