Last Sunday’s CNN Democratic presidential debate focused almost exclusively on the question of ‘If you were president, what would you do for the coronavirus epidemic?’ (“Pandemic forces CNN into a debate unique to campaign cycle,” Web, March 15).

Neither Sen. Bernie Sanders nor former Vice President Joe Biden said that this is the time for American ingenuity. Instead, regarding ingenuity, Mr. Sanders implied that greedy health plans and pharmaeutical companies are poised to take advantage of this crisis. It took Mr. Sanders, who literally owes his life to American health care, no time at all to call our system “dysfunctional.”

Yet politicians like Mr. Sanders are the reason doctors lose autonomy and Americans become unwitting patients of faceless health systems to which their doctors now belong. They are the cause of medical liability costs, skyrocketing health-insurance premiums and why many Americans are uninsured. Ultimately, Mr. Sanders’ solution boils down to Medicare for all. Mr. Biden’s solution is martial law — bring in the military.

At last, the left’s insidious strategy to use these ‘dysfunctions’ as a cudgel to advance their agenda is exposed. The connection with coronavirus is no accident. It was only a matter of time before their incompetence overflowed onto the coronavirus epidemic for all to see.
