Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns said his mother is in a medically induced coma amid her experiencing coronavirus-like symptoms.

In a nearly six-minute video, Towns said his mother, Jacqueline Cruz, had been battling a fever and cough, adding her condition was rapidly declining.

She just wasn’t getting better,” Towns said. “Her fever was never cutting from 103, maybe go down to 101.9 with the meds, and then immediately spike back up during the night. She was very uncomfortable. Her lungs were getting worse, her cough was getting worse. She was deteriorating.

“She was deteriorating — and we always felt that the next medicine would help. This is the one that’s going to get it done. This mixture is going to get it done.”

Towns, 24, noted both his parents weren’t feeling well over the past week and had both been tested for coronavirus. His father, Karl Sr., is awaiting the results, while his mother is in a coma.

Towns urged people to take precaution and treat COVID-19 seriously.
