“The Chosen” star Jonathan Roumie will narrate Banijay Live’s “Luminiscence” immersive experience, opening Oct. 1 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, news outlets report.
The “Luminiscence” franchise combines light, music and choral performances, drawing 2 million visitors across 20 productions in eight countries.
Banijay Americas CEO Ben Samek told Variety that Mr. Roumie was “the natural choice” for the project, citing his ability to bring authenticity and depth to performances.
Mr. Samek added that the installation builds on an existing audience while offering a new way to engage with the experience.
Mr. Roumie called the project meaningful as a “born-and-raised New Yorker,” describing St. Patrick’s Cathedral as a longstanding icon of faith, architecture and the city itself. The immersive installation marks the latest expansion of the “Luminiscence” franchise into the U.S. market.
Mr. Roumie is best known for portraying Jesus in “The Chosen,” a crowd-funded television series about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth.
