Military officials at Joint Base Andrews said a civilian died from injuries at a campground on the base Tuesday.

The civilian died after succumbing to their injuries at around 12:50 p.m. despite the efforts of first responders, base officials said in a release.

Authorities did not say what led up to the civilian getting injured, say what kind of injuries the civilian suffered or specify if the victim was alone or with others at the time.

The victim will not be publicly identified, Joint Base Andrews officials said, until at least 24 hours have passed since their next-of-kin was notified.

Officials said the incident was an isolated one, with base operations unaffected afterwards and with no threat posed to the base or the communities nearby.

The incident remains under investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
