TMZ received an anonymous email claiming to have video footage of a kidnapper and Nancy Guthrie on the day she died.
The celebrity news outlet said the tipster demanded $100,000 worth of Bitcoin in exchange for a phone that would identify the kidnappers who took Mrs. Guthrie on Jan. 31.
The individual told TMZ they would “deliver on a silver platter how to get access to this phone” for one Bitcoin — roughly $100,000 at current market rates — and provided a new Bitcoin wallet address for payment.
TMZ said it authenticated the latest email as originating from the same sender behind previous messages, citing a matching Bitcoin address used in their prior correspondence.
The tipster pushed back on a previous report suggesting the FBI believed the letter writer might be a woman, and refuted a recent tip about an alleged burial site for Mrs. Guthrie in Mexico.
“I am not the idiot who recently called in a tip about her burial site in Mexico,” the email said.
The sender claims to have video and photographs of both alleged kidnappers, their names, addresses and ages stashed in a phone in a “secret” location that is “easy to find if you know where to look.”
The phone also contains a short video of “the main guy” alongside Ms. Guthrie, the email said.
