Amtrak has debuted an Acela train with a special “Freedom 250” design honoring America’s 250th anniversary.
Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy posted a video on X Thursday from NBC’s “Today” that showed the train.
Its design is red, white and blue, features patriotic imagery including the Statue of Liberty and the phrase “1776 National Champs,” and credits its delivery to President Trump and Mr. Duffy.
“We’re going from Washington, D.C. to the heart of PHILLY to see where the American story began in celebration of America’s 250th birthday,” Mr. Duffy wrote on X.
Mr. Duffy took the train on a maiden voyage going out of Union Station to Philadelphia, along with 25 fourth and fifth graders taking a field trip to learn about America’s independence, according to Northern Virginia Magazine.
In addition to the Freedom 250 train, Amtrak will be putting patriotic decals on 20 other trains operating nationwide in the coming months, according to Axios.
Freedom 250 is the task force established by executive order dedicated to events around America’s 250th anniversary. America250 is the equivalent run by the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, a nonpartisan body established by Congress.
