Top House investigator to HHS: Declare monkeypox emergency now

House Oversight Committee Chair Carolyn Maloney wants the Biden administration to declare the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency, saying health officials must deploy every tool available in combatting the fast-moving disease.

Russia fires missiles from Ukraine’s neighbor as Kyiv counterattacks

Russia launched a barrage of missiles at Ukraine's capital from neighboring Belarus early Thursday as Kyiv's counter-offensive in the crucial city of Kherson appeared to be gathering momentum. At least 20 missiles were fired from Belarus, Moscow's key ally in its five-month-old invasion of Ukraine, striking an apartment block in the Chernihiv region as well as buildings outside the country's capital.

FDA clears over 780K monkeypox vaccine doses

The Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday it approved changes to the license for a critical monkeypox vaccine, clearing the way for 786,000 doses to be distributed in the U.S.

NYC health chief tells WHO to rename monkeypox

New York City is asking the World Health Organization to rename the monkeypox virus, warning that it is a misnomer and might stigmatize residents afflicted with the surging disease.
