Two men were arrested after being charged with plotting to throw objects at attendees during a Turning Point USA event at the University of New Mexico.

Kevin Castro and Harrison Magnus were arrested on Monday by the campus police department, the same day that Turning Point held a “Prove Me Wrong” event on the Albuquerque campus.

Mr. Castro, 20, is accused of throwing a lacrosse ball at the crowd and nearly hitting someone, according to court documents. He was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, disorderly conduct and conspiracy.

A spokesman for the university confirmed the arrests to Fox News, saying, “UNM remains committed to providing a safe, healthy and inclusive environment for all who learn, work and live on our campuses.

“The university upholds freedom of expression and will not tolerate threats, violence or other conduct that violates the law or university policies.”

Turning Point USA is a conservative activism group that frequently holds events on college campuses. It was co-founded by Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated during an event in September 2025 while speaking on the Utah Valley University campus in Orem.
