SOMEWHERE IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA I’ve left the Obama bubble to pack for Denver.

But a pool report from the trail on the way to Hampton Roads reveals he’s made the choice for No. 2.

“I’ve made the selection, and that’s all you’re going to get,” Obama told reporters while touring a peanut and gift shop in Emporia, Va.

Any guesses?

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine looked pretty bummed out today while campaigning with Obama in Chester, Va.

The favorite game of the Obama traveling press corps this week was to send fake text messages to campaign staffers “announcing” the vice presidential choice.

“Baby Suri” was among the favorites, along with longshot Sen. Jeff Bingaman (my pick) and disgraced former contender John Edwards.

Several scribes quipped we should send them to Howard Wolfson and Phil Singer at exactly 3 a.m., but I don’t think anyone actually did.
