McCain slams Obama as 'celebrity'

← return to Bellantoni

I’m sure Team Obama saw this one coming.

Sen. John McCain just released a new ad to air in swing states that uses the glowing footage of the Democrat’s speech in Berlin juxtaposed with shots of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

It’s an attempt to paint him as more celebrity than substance, which seems to be Team McCain’s latest talking point.

Here’s “Celebrity”:

Here’s the script:

Script For “Celeb” (TV :30)

ANNCR: He’s the biggest celebrity in the world.

But, is he ready to lead?

With gas prices soaring, Barack Obama says no to offshore drilling.

And, says he’ll raise taxes on electricity.

Higher taxes, more foreign oil, that’s the real Obama.

JOHN MCCAIN: I’m John McCain and I approved this message.

The campaign hinted at this tactic yesterday, when Rick Davis said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” “Barack Obama has more fans across the world than Paris Hilton does.”

As I type this, Obama is in Missouri attacking McCain over the economy.

UPDATE, 7:30 P.M.: Team Obama fires back in a new ad:
