Rock icon Gene Simmons says there’s nothing wrong with running the American government like a business.

Appearing on CNN Monday evening, the KISS founder and reality show star said he hasn’t endorsed Mitt Romney or Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential race, but he said a businessman might be more capable of getting the country’s runaway spending under control.

“We mean well, we’re really nice people, and we’re $15 trillion in debt,” the 62-year-old rocker said in a segment CNN called “The Rise of the Republican Rocker.”

“You need people who are not professors at Berkeley assuming public office,” the sunglasses-wearing rocker said.

Mr. Simmons said he voted for President Obama in 2008, but he’s cast ballots in the past for Republicans, and he hasn’t yet made up his mind on 2012.
