Joe Theismann compares Tim Tebow to "a Kardashian"

Joe Theismann has never been shy about sharing his opinion. That extends to New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow, perhaps the most-chronicled backup in NFL history.

When I chatted with Theismann for my piece about Sonny Jurgensen, Billy Kilmer and Theismann’s 22-year domination of the quarterback position for the Redskins, he offered a few Tebow thoughts.

“Tim Tebow has become like a Kardahsian,” Theismann said. “She was a closet organizer. … He had a little bit more than a half-season of success. It’s almost not what you do on the field anymore, but how people want to promote you, how people look at you.”

Kim Kardashian, of course, is the reality show diva and occasional model who once married to NBA player Kris Humphries 72 days before filing for divorce.

Theismann also had a few words about Cleveland and Dallas.

“When Mr. Cook owned the team, and that way now with Daniel, you have political power in that box,” Theismann said. “Politicians, movie stars. That’s the world you play in. I don’t think you get that in Cleveland. I don’t think Brandon Weeden is going to be standing on the practice field in front of the President of the United States. … Even as much as Dallas thinks it’s the most important city in the world, its not going to happen to Tony Romo either.”
