Rasmussen just posted their daily Presidential tracking poll and the numbers do not bode well for President Barack Obama. Rasmussen is now reporting their poll shows that only 14 percent believe that the U.S. is “generally heading in the right direction.” According to the polling company this id the lowest level since Obama took office in January of 2009.
Rasmussen also points out that 45 percent believe that government should cut back spending on roads and highways until the budget is balanced. While President Obama wants $53 billion in tax payer money to build a high speed rail system under the guise of creating more jobs, Rasmussen polling shows that Americans have more faith in the private sector to create jobs:
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of American Adults shows that just 18% believe a billion dollars spent by the government on new highways would do more to create jobs than a billion dollars spent by private companies to expand business. Sixty-eight percent (68%) say private companies spending money to expand their own businesses would do more to create jobs. Another 14% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.) Despite the nation’s infrastructure needs, 45% of Adults believe the government should cut spending for roads and highways until the federal budget is balanced. Nearly as many (40%) disagree. Another 16% are undecided.
