We knew President Obama was a big sports fan, but he broadcast that to the world today when the White House video live stream played nearly 10 minutes of ESPN programming.

The tech snafu appeared to begin at 10:56 a.m. when the feed awoke. It was last used late last night when the White House played audio of the president’s commencement speech at Arizona State University. It was scheduled to begin again around noon for Obama’s town hall in Albuquerque.

At 11:04 a.m. someone seemed to catch the error and the ESPN News briefing first went mute and then stopped.

A panel flashed on the site informing surfers, “We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with this channel.”

But a few minutes later the feed started up again, this time with CNBC’s show “The Call.”

That ran until 11:17 when the feed went dark again.

I’ll update this post as soon as I hear back from the White House.
