Well, things just turned interesting here. The Nationals had looked tepid through 4 1/2 innings, with Garrett Mock getting rocked for four runs in the first, another in the second and another in the fourth. He wasn’t helped at all by his defense, which committed two errors and made a couple other sloppy plays in the field. Still, Mock didn’t do anything to pick his teammates up or to get himself out of those jams.
So trailing the Braves 6-1 in the bottom of the fifth, things didn’t look good. Then Jim Riggleman sent Mike Morse up to bat for Mock, and the pinch-hitter extraordinaire delivered again. He slugged a three-run homer to center field, and all of a sudden it’s 6-4 Braves.

The problem: It started raining in the third inning, and it’s progressively coming down with more force. And it’s not going to let up anytime soon, perhaps not until tomorrow. So what do they do? The game is now official, but a 2-run deficit is too small to declare this game over, especially when you consider the Braves are still very much alive in the NL wild-card race.
My guess: They’ll try to keep the field as playable as possible and pray they can get the full nine in before the conditions get too bad.
