The O’Malley administration has posted on its blog site an exchange of letters between Gov. Martin O’Malley and Archbishop of Baltimore Edwin O’Brien on the issue of same-sex marriage in Maryland.

Mr. O’Malley, a Democrat, will sponsor legislation in the upcoming General Assembly session to legalize such marriages. The archbishop wrote Mr. O’Malley’s decision would “deeply conflict” with his Catholic faith and that he should resist pressure to do so after New York’s recent legalization of same-sex marriage, as reported first by The Washington Post.
