Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown might have “friends” raising money for his possible gubernatorial run, but state Comptroller Peter V.R. Franchot also has friend and “The Human Vacuum Cleaner” on his team.

The group Friend of Peter Franchot announced Tuesday that Baltimore Oriole Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson will appear Saturday at a fundraiser with Mr. Franchot, who with Mr. Brown are considered likely and top Democratic candidates for the 2014 governorship.

The even is scheduled to take place at the Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf. Ticket prices range from $100 to $1,000.

On Monday, Friends of Maryland Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown said it would hold a fundraiser this month in his honor, giving perhaps the strongest indication yet that Mr. Brown plans to run for governor in 2014.

Gov. Martin O’Malley and Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will act as hosts of the Dec. 14 event, which will be held in Baltimore. Ticket prices range from $250 to $4,000 and proceeds go to the “Friends of Anthony Brown” fundraising committee.

Mr. Brown has served under Mr. O’Malley since 2007, and spent the previous eight years representing Prince George’s County in the House of Delegates.

With Mr. O’Malley set to leave office in 2015 due to term limits, Mr. Brown is one of three candidates widely expected to seek the Democratic gubernatorial nomination, him, Mr. Franchot and Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler.

Others including Howard County Executive Kenneth S. Ulman have also been rumored.
