Legislation containing a provision allowing online poker was attached to a budget bill earlier this year and survivied a mandatory 30-day congressional review period. However, lots of questions remain — not the least of which was raised by The Washington Post editorial board about Mr. Brown’s employment at a law firm with ties to the industry.

Reports in The Washington Times have questioned whether Congress will go along with the proposal and whether it’s actually legal at all.

Mr. Brown said his proposal would raise more than $13.5 million by the end of 2014.
