Woodley Park is back in Ward 3, D.C. Council member Mary M. Cheh announced Tuesday.

An amendment she introduced to that effect passed 10-3 today in council session.

“Residents of Woodley Park had a single, simple request: to be reunited with Ward 3 and the rest of their neighborhood. I am very pleased that we were able to make this happen in the final stretch,” Mrs. Cheh said. “I would also like to thank my colleague Jim Graham of Ward 1 for his support today.”

The council member said both ANC 3C and the Woodley Park Community Association have adopted resolutions in support of unifying Woodley Park, and residents expressed a host of difficulties and confusion caused by the streets east of Connecticut Avenue in Woodley Park being in Ward 1.

She said that even after the addition of the streets east of Connecticut, Ward 3 will remain below 5 percent of the mean population, as stipulated by the D.C. Election Act and that the area now also conforms to the natural geographic boundary represented by the Rock Creek Park.
