There’s one really interesting team I want to look at while running down the week’s top 30 teams.
And that is Florida State.
SEE RELATED:
The Seminoles have finally played more games with their full roster (four) than without (three), the product of suspensions connected to some academic hijinks.
So maybe it’s time to look more at those four results and minimize the impact of the first three —- two creampuff wins and a loss to Wake Forest.
Florida State has toppled Colorado in Jacksonville, Miami and N.C. State on the road, and Virginia Tech at home. While not a national title contender resume, it’s overall quite impressive and makes the Seminoles the right team to stick right after all the blatantly good teams (plus Tulsa, which keeps scoring a ton of points but really isn’t playing anyone).
Virginia fans might be wondering where the Cavaliers are. Well, in this system where any OT game counts as a tie, an overtime win isn’t quite as valuable and an overtime loss isn’t quite as harmful as most people might believe it should be. So that North Carolina game doesn’t help as much as expected. But Virginia is lurking not too far from the top 30, which is an absolutely bizarre situation given where the Cavaliers were a month ago.
