BALTIMORE —- Just reached the break in the opener of the Day of Rivals doubleheader at M&T Bank Stadium, and Navy probably could be up a little more than 4-2 at this point.

Defensively, the Midshipmen have been fine, and goalie Tommy Phelan is enjoying another stout day with seven saves. Army is a mere 2-for-14, and one of its goals came in an extra-man situation.

The trouble for Navy is it just hasn’t created enough offensive chances, particularly in the second quarter. The Mids were on the verge of blowing things open after seizing a 4-1 lead in the first quarter, but that production didn’t translate into the next 15 minutes.

Still, Navy is in good shape to collect its third victory in as many weekends —- assuming, of course, the offense flips back on once the second half gets back underway.
