By now, you’re probably aware Washington selected Maryland cornerback Kevin Barnes in the third round this morning.

But how ‘bout this: It’s the fourth time in five years a Maryland corner was selected in the NFL Draft.

There was Domonique Foxworth in 2005, Gerrick McPhearson in 2006 and Josh Wilson in 2007. Toss is safety Madieu Williams in 2004, and Maryland’s defensive backs have fared rather well in the draft of late.

With both Barnes and Darrius Heyward-Bey off the board, it marks the 15th straight year Maryland had a player drafted.
