Just before the media horde was permitted into the Maryland locker room for its one hour of the year, burly left guard Lamar Young bounded outside.

Turns out he had the best idea of anyone: Poaching the last bottle of water in a cooler sitting at the locker room entrance.

“I’m parched,” he said before crowing about his good fortune.

Of course, there was water elsewhere. But clearly Young’s camp got off to a good start.

The Terps could use more good vibes from the sophomore, who will likely play extensively for the first time in his career this fall.

And as for the heat? Young is fairly prepared for that.

“Not really,” Young said. “Being from Georgia, I’m ready.”
