I’m working on a story for tomorrow’s e-edition on Maryland backup quarterback Jamarr Robinson, who beyond a couple JV games last fall hasn’t taken a competitive snap since 2005 —- when he was a high school senior.

Still, Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen re-iterated his desire to find some playing time for Robinson yesterday, preferrably in blowouts but possibly in other situations.

And offensive coordinator James Franklin went even further, making an extremely favorable comparison to another athletic quarterback known to ACC fans.

“I think we can win in this league with Jamarr,” Franklin said. “I hate to say it, but there’s some things that remind you of a Russell Wilson-type guy. that’s some of the things I see in him.”

That is high, high praise, given that Wilson basically was the primary reason N.C. State reached a bowl game last season.

Anyway, I’ll have more on Robinson in that online-only story tomorrow.
