A little bit more from last night’s scrimmage in College Park. …

* Tight end remains a position where no clear-cut answer is in sight.

“We dropped some balls there tonight,” coach Ralph Friedgen said. “That’s the one position I feel we’re not as strong as we need to be. It would help us. I thought we ran the ball better tonight. We have to play lower and be more physical at that position.”

Friedgen said the group is solid enough in the passing game. But with questions remaining on the offensive line, they need to block better to help the offense.

“If we started tomorrow, it would probably be Tommy Galt,” Friedgen said. “We’d probably play all three.”

* All of the guards played in an attempt to figure out who will start at the spot opposite Andrew Gonnella. The guys who could factor in are Justin Lewis, Lamar Young, Maurice Hampton and Bennett Fulper. At this point, the gut feeling here is at least two and perhaps three will start at least once this season.

* As for the wideout logjam, “Unless something drastic happens, I think nine receivers will travel,” Friedgen said.
