Membership in a BCS conference usually precludes knowing minor details like late-season kickoff times until the frost is on the pumpkin thanks to TV contracts.
Not so in the land of independents, where Navy now has its entire schedule for 2009 … well, firmly scheduled.

The Midshipmen will visit Pittsburgh on Sept. 19 at 6 p.m., and also play at Rice at 3:30 p.m. (Eastern) on Oct. 10.
Thus, everything is wrapped up —- and Navy fans can start making concrete, down-to-the-minute travel plans already.
Too bad the same can’t be said for folks following Maryland beyond the third week of the season.
