Greivis Vasquez is returning to Maryland, and the Terrapins’ prospects for 2009-10 improved dramatically with his decision.
This much is certain —- he’ll be one of the best guards left in the ACC after an exodus of talent that included Tyrese Rice, K.C. Rivers, Gerald Henderson, Toney Douglas, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington and Jeff Teague.

Realistically, the list of excellent guards in the league will include Vasquez, Sylven Landesberg from Virginia, Malcolm Delaney of Virginia Tech, Duke’s Jon Scheyer and Georgia Tech’s Iman Shumpert. Plus whoever else starts at Duke and North Carolina.
So that’s a significant piece back for the Terps, who figure to be pegged as an NCAA tournament team, at least at the start of the season.
More to come later in the day.
